The Scythe Novel

In a world without hunger, disease, or wars, humans have overcome all forms of misery to the extent that they have eradicated death itself. The only way for humans to die is through “reaping,” meaning killing. The task of controlling the population falls on a select few called “the Scythes,” who have the freedom to choose whom they deem worthy of reaping. Citra and Rowan are chosen, against their will, to apprentice under Scythe Faraday to learn the craft of taking lives, fully aware that failure means the loss of their own lives. They become embroiled in a power struggle among the Scythes with differing visions, realizing that the ideal world they live in comes at a steep cost.
